Haiti - Women's U-20 World Cup qualifier : Victory of Haiti against Cuba [2-1] (Video)

Saturday February 26, 2022, as part of the qualifiers for the U-20 Women's World Cup to be held in August 2022 in Costa Rica, our Grenadières faced the Caribbean lionesses (Cuba) on the lawn of the Pan American Stadium in San Cristobal in the Republic Dominican

A match won by Haiti [2-1} not without difficulty. It's Valentina Ornis who opens the scoring for Haiti at 30' [1-0]. 11 minutes later, Rose-Alaya Marcellu sinks the score at 41' [2-0]b

Upon returning from the locker room our grenadiers were aggressive but despite their efforts and many shots on target, none managed to thwart the incredible Cuban goalkeeper Elika Acea who intercepted less than ten shots.

Finally it is on a penalty, that Y. Palma in the 71st avoids humiliation and reduces the score for Cuba [2-1]. 5 minutes from the end of the match the Cubans missed a great opportunity to find equality.

It was a very combative match with faults on both sides and several warnings: Nahomie Ambroise, Indira Hechavarria, Meghane St-Cyr and Dayana Pierre.

Final score [2-1} in favor of Haiti which currently takes the lead in Group H.

Fiorda Charles' starting 11 :

Haiti led by Fiorda Charles, proposed a 3-4-3 strategy with Nahomie Ambroise in goal; Estericove Joseph, Maudeline Moryl and Rose-Alya Marcellus on the defensive line; Valentina Ornis, Alcide Whithmila Pierre, Florsie Joseph and Rose-Bertude Rosinvil in the middle and Meghane St-Cyr, Dayana Pierre and Mirlene Dorcé for forward.

Cuba :

Cuba led by Midel Logal Domínguez stopped with a 4-4-2 pattern with Elika Acea in goal; Yerly Palma, Liz Marian, Yelenis Sarria and Dayamis Chinea in defense ; Elizabeth Zara, Yesela Castillo, Daniela Villavicencio and María Karla in midfield and Indira Hechavarria and Sabrina Bahamonte in attack.
